This is a nice top-grain leather possibles bag with strap, made by Kris Congdon himself, for his times reenacting the era of the Rocky Mountain fur trapper, as a mountain man. The square-bottom half-flap pouch measures roughly 8'' by 8'' and has a dual compartment interior; it is closed with a simple lanyard loop over a reproduction pewter trade button. The suspension belt is 2 3/4'' wide and is adjustable with simple rawhide cord. Suspended from the hanger belt is a nice modern 9'' body powderhorn with bulbous maple plug affixed with tiny brass brads around its periphery, reduced its full-length with incise carved medials and a hanger groove near the spout, the stopper is present. There is a ten-hole bullet block made of antler, hammered wrought iron screwdriver/nipple pick combination tool, small horn pan charger with carved eaglehead plug, a small brass-tipped powder dribbler made from an antler, and an empty sheath for a small knife or perhaps short-starter, affixed to the strap proper. There is an additional sheath affixed to the cover flap of the pouch which holds a square-front antler-handled patch cutting knife, wound with floss at the junction of blade and handle. On the interior we find a small leather pouch with cast lead balls, an iron mainspring vise, a small hand-forged pair of iron tongs, a brass oval-shaped tin with patches, flints, rod end accessories, fishhooks and a spare mainspring within; there is a quality-made brass sundial compass in a two-piece brass carry case, the interior features a couple of fishhooks. There is a modern World War I-era oiler included and a small brass butt oiler as well. Additionally included is a very small pewter gorget-like commemorative fob, commemorating the 25th Northeast Rendezvous, with howling wolf and bighorn sheep flanking the face of an antique compass, this surmounting ''XXV''; the back reads ''Original/Northeastern/Rendezvous/Bennett Meadow/Northfield Ma/2012''. A very nice quality-made possibles bag with accoutrements, with everything you could possibly need for months in the backwoods with your flinter. (39738-34A) [Kris Congdon Collection] (150/250)
