serial #2109A, 16 ga. by 9.3x72R, 26 3/4'' barrels with very good bores which are mostly bright but which show some sparsely scattered spots of light pitting here and there, both barrels with a couple minor dings; the rifle barrel rates very fine. The barrels are an overall deep gray-blue faded original blue patina, toning to plum with hand matted rib and neatly engraved dolls head extension. The frame is an overall plum patina and features oak leaf engraving with background punch-dot shading with bellowing stag right and roe deer left, oak leaves continuing all along the upper tang with the top of the frame very neatly, very finely matted. The checkered capped pistolgrip European walnut buttstock rates good, with overall dings and handling marks, the checkering worn nearly smooth, two prominent scars to the right of the tang, a crack at the point of comb which was doweled and will not move; the splinter forend is about fair, worn completely smooth and shows a repaired crack its full-length. Butt features a rounded left side shadowline cheekpiece, engraved push-button trapdoor cartridge trap and a fairly thick grooved horn buttplate. Features double triggers, the front a single set, Pin-style cocking indicators, greener safety and sling swivels. The gun seems to function as-design and is sighted with a simple replacement copper post style front sight and flip-up u-notch rear when the rifle barrel is selected. The makers marking and his location on the barrels are only partially present and the name above is only a rough interpretation of what may actually be there. The barrels are off-face and exhibit both vertical and lateral play. (39738-77) {C&R} [Kris Congdon Collection] (300/500)
