serial #7116, 16 ga., 26” barrels choked skeet 1 and skeet 2 with bright excellent bores. The barrels retain about 95% original blue showing light muzzle wear and some even fading. The “16 Gauge” marking is a bit light but appears so from the factory and the barrel shows no evidence of having been refinished at any time. The rib has a red Bradley style front bead and silver midrib bead. The frame shows a bit more wear with about 92% original blue, toning to pewter on the high edges and carry point of the frame, with a bit of light oxidation staining on the edges of the fences which has left some tiny pits; it is marked “Tournament/Skeet” ahead of the triggerguard. The checkered walnut capped pistolgrip buttstock rates very good with the expected dings and handling marks from the years, with added checkering at the cheeks. There has been a custom rounded horn pistolgrip cap installed, a silver shield-shaped monogram plate along the toeline engraved “CF” and a plexiglass spacer with checkered hard rubber buttplate installed giving a 13 1/2” length of pull, having drops of 1 3/4” and 2 7/8”. The splinter style forend is similar with a tiny chip missing at its left upper edge and a small slot, which appears purposefully cut, at its rear near the forend iron 7/8” long by about 3/32” wide. The gun locks up tightly and is on face with the top lever beginning to drift just slightly left of center. Features a single selective trigger and non-automatic safety and extractors, the ejector parts having been entirely removed from the forend assembly. The gun otherwise functions properly, a small screw has been professionally added at the front of the water table to contact the ejectors so they will act as extractors in the absence of the ejector parts (it functions well). The top of the wrist to the rear of the tang shows an old crack which emanates to the right side into the checkering, no doubt due to the highly figured wood. It has been successfully well-repaired, indeed there is a small wooden plug just to the rear of the tang which no doubt camouflages a screw beneath it which affected the repair, which is tight and will not flex; “F8292” has been lightly scratched into the tang of the triggerguard to the rear of its bow. Overall a nice, and likely very usable, tournament skeet for between the houses, that will no doubt provide years of service. (39100-901) {C&R} [Richard “Stretch” Kennedy Collection] (2000/3000)
