Catalog Auction info Amoskeag Timed #135 - August 2022 (#135a) 08/11/2022 1:00 PM EDT - 08/28/2022 1:40 PM EDT Closed Starts Ending 08/28/2022 9:30 AM EDT Auction Info > Lot #2004Parker GH Grade Boxlock Double Shotgun Click image to enlarge PreviousNextSimilar Items Lot closed - Sold Price (Including Buyer`s Premium):$348 Description Description: serial #123268, 12 ga., 30” barrels, the left tube rating very good to very good plus with scattered remnants of oxidation and perhaps some light pinprick pitting, the right barrel sadly needing to be replaced as it had a catastrophic failure midway down its length which has resulted in a bulge and a tear, which dislodged the top rib and partially dislodged the bottom. The barrels did show some very nice star damascus pattern their full length with very sparsely scattered surface oxidation. The top rib is present, the muzzle portion a bit wavy but could easily be salvaged and relaid by a professional in the field, the same holds true for the bottom rib. The frame is a smoky case-hardened pewter patina with some vestiges of colors hiding beneath the fences left and right, more around the front of the triggerguard. The engraving remains crisp and very prominent throughout. The checkered capped pistolgrip American walnut buttstock rates very fine plus with much original varnish, crisp checkering, intact pistolgrip cap and silver monogram plate along the toeline with only very light handling marks here and there. The length of pull to the dog’s head buttplate is 14 1/16” with drops of 1 1/2” and 2 3/4” . The forend and iron are numbered to a different gun but are definitely Parker, perhaps the original forend lost when the accident occurred. This forend is mostly smooth and rates perhaps good plus. The forend locks loosely in place with a gap at the frame but could likely be tightened up when the lug is relaid along with the ribs. The barrels are currently tight on face and the gun does seem to function as-designed with automatic safety. A worthwhile project Parker for the dedicated enthusiast or competent tradesman.
