The first is 12 1/2'' overall, featuring a 7 1/4'' double-edged hollow-ground spear point blade. The blade is an overall light gray with watery areas of gray-brown staining. The blade has been broken at the ricasso and reattached via spot-welding. The sheet steel double guard features a shallow S-curve and shows remnants of blue finish on the top face, toning to bright on the forward quillon. The ribbed brass grips are similar to some bayonets and cutlasses of the 19th century, held by steel screws and engraved ''US'' below the guard and ''J. Abbott / U.S. Scouts / 1874'' at the pommel between a pair of diagonal arrows. The markings are exceptionally crisp and likely an homage to the U.S. Army Indian Scouts. Cursory research has returned no information on J. Abbott. Includes a lightly crazed leather sheath with a brass-studded closing strap. A good knife overall. The second knife measures 12 1/2'' and features a 9'' double-edged spear point blade; the reverse face is flat and the obverse is convex with three face flats. The metal surfaces of the blade and steel double guard are an overall mottled dark gray-brown with a few instances of silvering here or there, a small accumulation of ocher oxidation at the guard and areas of roughness along the edges. A ferrule made from the brass head of a shotgun shell is affixed just below the guard. The handle is contoured reduced bone with a raised medial ridge and terminates in an octagonal pommel with a square-sided semi-bulbous finial. The bone is patinaed to a dark yellow-brown with no discernible blemishes except some negligible nicks which may be from the initial carving. The ferrule shows a dark tobacco-goldenrod patina the beginnings of a crack on one side. Overall, the knife is in fair to good condition. The third knife is 9 1/4'' in length, featuring a 5 1/4'' double-edged blade with a flat profile and narrow hollow-ground bevels. The blade is bright with sharpening marks throughout, razor sharp unblemished edges, and few if any other blemishes. The flat steel double guard exhibits some light brown patina. The stacked leather grip exhibits a dark patina but is otherwise unblemished. The included leather sheath also exhibits minimal wear. An excellent knife overall.
