The barrels display a plum-gray patina with scattered small spots of light oxidation and pinprick pitting along with the previously mentioned tiny dents and a few light handling marks, and the left muzzle was cut on a slight angle. The barrels retain most of their original damascus pattern with the rib maker-marked ''STEPHEN GRANT. 67A ST. JAMES'S STREET. LONDON.'' while the undersides display ''NOT FOR BALL'' along with London definitive black powder proofs. The triggerguard has also aged to a plum-gray patina with a few small spots of hardened preservative while the rear action locks and round bodied frame are dark gray, with the ball fences appearing a pewtery case-hardened patina with some light oxidation staining, a few small spots of old oxidation and hardened preservative. Both hammers are replacements and do not match each other with the right hammer rather loose, each side of the frame is marked ''STEPHEN GRANT'S PATENT'' and the lockplates are also maker-marked. The frame, lockplates, triggerguard and ball fences are all handsomely adorned with loose foliate scroll with rosettes around the screw heads and both the forend tip and triggerguard terminate in decorative finials. The checkered walnut straight grip stock rates about good and shows some lovely figure in the grain, along with evidence of moderate sanding and an extensive repair to the wrist along with a few light handling marks. The stock is slightly cast-off and features a checkered butt with toe and heel plates displaying some light staining and spots of hardened preservative along with an unmarked German silver monogram plate on the toeline. The splinter forend rates very good plus with softened checking beneath a touch of added finish. The shotgun is sighted with a brass round head screw and the barrels lock up tightly with just a sliver of light able to be seen at the breech faces.
