serial #50444, 16 ga. by 6.3x52R (25-35 Win), 27 3/4” Krupp Stahl barrels, choked full in top, with a bright excellent shotgun barrel, the rifle barrel showing some very light frosting in the grooves but still mostly bright with sharp rifling. The barrels are primarily a dark gray-blue faded original blue patina with some scattered water spotting and some sparse freckles of very light oxidation here and there. The frame is a dull mottled gray and plum case-hardened patina with some generous trace colors on the left side, showing only very light borderline engraving and some punch-dot embellishment. The checkered round knob European walnut buttstock rates very good with a bit of added varnish, the wood is slightly proud in spots, the metal in others. The checkering patterns on the grip have mullered borders and have softened just a bit and there are the expected light dings and handling marks scattered about the surface and some light water streaked spots along the butt. The length of pull to the grooved hard rubber buttplate is 13 7/8” to the front single set trigger. The splinter forend is in a similar state of condition showing perhaps a bit more wear and some very shallow chips along the top sharp edges at barrels, with a very endearing little fish lip tip in lieu of a schnabel. Features double triggers, pin-style cocking indicators and Greener-style safety. The arm has dual under bites with dolls head extension at top and seems to lock up well and is tight on-face. The rifle barrel is marked “6.3 mm/52”, there is differing information about the 25-35 Win and the 6.3x52R, evidently the two will interchange in many guns, in others there is a slight difference in the shoulder and they do not interchange. Obviously a competent gunsmith’s advice should be sought before any thought is given to using the arm. There is a simple bead style front sight on a raised sporting ramp with a ventilated rib its full-length and two leaf rear, one standing, one folding. “Imman Meffert Suhl” is in a field in the center of the rib and there is a bit of engraving on the doll’s head extension. A quality Bockbuchsflinte overall that would make an excellent rainy day gun and would handle most North American game following an inspection by a competent gunsmith.
