  • Description
    Description:

serial #JC47, 45 ACP, 5” Kart National Match barrel with an as-new bore. These extremely finely-made Caspian frame-based pistols were made under Lt. Colonel Cooper’s direction by gifted Gunsite Academy pistolsmith Ted Yost. The pistol retains all of its original satin and polished blue finishes with Col. Cooper’s signature inlaid atop the slide in silver and the gunsight logo on the rear right slide flat behind the serrations. All of the primary surfaces have been lightly, very tastefully dehorned and amenities include a special rounded grooved flat mainspring housing with recessed lanyard loop, shortened horn at rear of frame, special blended grip safety with an extended and narrowed left side manual safety. The hammer has been neatly bobbed and rounded still providing a very finely checkered shortened thumb grip at the high spur and the magazine well was neatly beveled as well. The arm features a black Novak rear sight with an orange bar pinned dovetailed Millet style front sight, the front of the frame with seven neatly executed grooves, the grooved-face aluminum trigger adjustable for overtravel. The trigger has been neatly tuned for a 3 1/2 pound crisp clean let off by Yost who has signed his work beneath the slide, which is also numbered to the frame. The Kart barrel has a throated and polished feed ramp and a Kart National Match bushing is fitted, the ejection port nicely lowered and flared. The smooth exhibition grade walnut grips rate as-new and are laser engraved with Jeff Cooper’s “JC” with sword and pen logo. Only 80 of these lovely pistols were made, this example being number 47 of that group. It comes with two Chip McCormick eight-round “Power Mags” with rubber bumpers and shooting star followers, and the issue gunsight pistol rug with dual magazine pouch on the interior and yellow gunsight logo. The original walnut presentation case with candy apple red interior is included, the lid laser engraved identically as the grips. The original test target dated April 23, 2001, fired and signed by Ted Yost is included and numbered to the pistol, as well as a photocopy of the original invoice and the original 31 point checklist signed by both Yost and Jeff Cooper, dated April 26, 2001; the congratulatory Gunsite letter signed by Yost is present as well. Every one of these pistols were test fired and inspected by Jeff Cooper himself, a color glossy photo of him firing the pistol is included. Col. Cooper was arguably the 1911 pistols greatest fan and advocate and this arm was built to his exacting specifications and demanding expectations. The pistol is again as-new and un-fired since receipt from Gunsite Academy by the owner and consignor. Close inspection will reveal a very tiny superficial handling mark left and right at the muzzle but these are the guns only blemishes and missed at first glance. Rarely do these exceptional arms ever trade on the secondary market, this is likely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own one of the finest 1911 pistols ever produced for commercial consumption.
