The 28 ga. Briley sub gauge tube set with screw in thin-wall choke tubes features excellent bores as well. Both sets of barrels exhibit about 95-97% original blue, the loss due to some light muzzle wear, some light high edge wear and some very sparsely scattered handling marks here and there. The scalloped boxlock frame is a lovely French gray and shows the finest quality deep relief open flowing scroll with background punch-dot shading on the top of frame and the left and right bolsters with light loose open flowing scroll at front of left and right flats and on belly of frame. The left flat shows a leaping stag amidst a woodland scene, the right a running European boar deep in the forest, and the bottom shows a walking black bear. The triggerguard shows light open scroll on the bow and retains most of its original blue, there is light engraving on the forend iron and latch which are French gray. The arm is stocked classic style with a rounded left side shadowline cheekpiece in a nice grade of Circassian walnut with a nice pinched point of comb. Buttstock and all forend panels rate excellent with nice skip-line checkering and some lovely grain figure, appearing very much as-new. The flat horn pistolgrip cap features a German silver inlay of a flying pheasant and toeline and both sets of barrels have maker equipped sling swivels. The length of pull to the Pachmayr decelerator recoil pad is 14 1/16” with drops from the shotgun barrel of 1 3/8” and 2 1/2”. The rifle barrel features a sporting ramp front with silver bead sight and a single standing rear mounted in a nice file cut quarter rib. The quarter rib is also fitted with dual claw bases which mount a Hensoldt Diavari-D 1 1/2-6X telescopic sight with crosshair reticle and bright excellent optics. The shotgun barrels have a nice file cut rib as well and a single silver bead front sight. The front, right, trigger is a single set and the gun locks up tightly and seems to function well mechanically with robust ejectors, and safety is non-automatic. The arm comes in a leather luggage style case with brass corners, nickel oil bottle, partial box of Dynamit Nobel cartridges with four live rounds, 20 ga. try shells and Briley choke tubes and wrench; the included tubes are: (2) skeet, improved cylinder, and modified; the hammer and knocker for the tube set are included as well. Ludwig Borovnik makes some of the finest arms available, this example is impeccable and is a very versatile combination for the big game and bird hunter. Proofed in 1965.
