The barrel shows strong remnants of an older reapplied black enamel finish over moderate old pitting scattered about. The lock is unmarked and may be from a different arm and not quite perfectly fitted; it has mostly toned to a mottled gray-brown patina showing remnants of light pitting, the bridled frizzen has been resurfaced at some point, the frizzen spring shows a number of old cracks and the cock is a newer component. The arm is fitted with brass hardware including nosecap, long front thimble, small middle thimble and tailpipe, triggerguard with simple decorative extension, curved sideplate, blank monogram plate atop the wrist and buttplate all toned to a mottled ocher patina. The top tang of the buttplate is regimentally-marked, the markings somewhat soft but appear to be "D / 99" and "6 - W - T - Rt", very possibly the 6th Regiment of Foot (Royal Warwickshire Regiment) detachments of which were active in the colonies during the Revolutionary War but only for a short time. The straight grip walnut stock with long fluted comb remains in about good condition as refinished showing a number of old filler repairs around the lock and scattered about, a few small cracks, dings and handling marks. There are soft remnants of a carved sunburst motif at the upper tang, the sling swivels and what appears to be an original ramrod are intact and the lock remains functional. A good example of these desirable British arms.
